ING Direct dominates Mozo awards
ING Direct has topped the Mozo awards for the second year in a row, winning best bank, most trusted bank, most recommended bank, best transaction account and best debit card.Comparison website Mozo bases its awards on customer ratings collected over the previous 12 months.Other winners were ME Bank, for customer service; Victoria Teachers Credit Union, for best credit union; and Greater Building Society, for best building society. Greater Building Society also picked up the gongs for best home loan and best savings account. Bendigo and Adelaide Bank was rated top for credit cards.Among the big banks, Westpac won the best term deposits award and best personal loans.Commonwealth Bank was rated worst for home loans, ANZ was worst for transaction accounts, Citibank was worst for credit cards and Bank of Queensland was worst for savings accounts.Worst banking provider overall was GE Money. The results correlate fairly closely with the Roy Morgan consumer banking customer satisfaction survey, in which mutuals and small banks dominated the ratings at the expense of the big banks. One anomaly was the result for ANZ, which was the best-performing of the big banks in the Roy Morgan survey but did not do so well in the Mozo poll.Mozo's research highlights some disparities in the competitive landscape. While the challenger brands do well in the ratings for home loans, transaction accounts, credit cards and debit cards, the big banks are the preferred providers of personal loans and term deposits.Mozo included a couple of insurance categories for the first time this year. Shannons was rated the best car insurer and Youi was rated best value for money. GIO was rated the worst car insurer.
