iSelect calls off merger talks
Comparison site operator iSelect has called off merger talks with suitor Providence Equity Partners.The company issued a statement yesterday, saying recent volatility in its health insurance business and management changes meant it was unlikely the company would attract a good price for shareholders.In mid-October the company lost chief executive Alex Stevens and two weeks later lost its chief financial officer Paul McCarthy.The company provided Providence with preliminary due diligence information and access to senior management over a number of weeks. Information was also provided to other parties expressing an interest in iSelect. Discussions with Providence and other parties have now ceased and the company will focus on operational and capital management initiatives.
