Kleenmaid fraudster jailed
In the Brisbane District Court on Friday, one perpetrator of a A$13 million fraud on Westpac was sentenced to seven years in prison. The court had earlier convicted former Kleenmaid director Gary Armstrong, who pleaded guilty to the fraud.The charges of dishonestly obtaining $13 million from Westpac and two counts of insolvent trading followed an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. The trial of the other two former Kleenmaid directors, Andrew Young and Bradley Young, has been set for March 2016.ASIC, which publicised the matter, said Kleenmaid entered voluntary administration in 2009 and liquidators reported consolidated debts of almost $100 million.
