Last remaining piece of Bill Express facing extinction
Enzo Di Donato and his cousin Sandro Di Donato, the owner of Australia's largest satellite broadband provider Activ8Me, have both found themselves subject to questioning by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in the wake of the Bill Express collapse.ASIC's questions may have now effectively put Activ8Me out of business because of changes to the eligibility criteria for government grants under the broadband guarantee for remote areas. The new criteria requires company directors to declare that none of their directors or senior executives "are under current investigation by either ASIC, ASX, ACMA or the ACCC."Activ8Me say their application for renewal of their license under the scheme is pending; however Activ8Me no longer appears on the list of approved satellite broadband providers that is published on the website of the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. Counsel for the liquidator of Bill Express has previously told the Supreme Court of Victoria that Activ8me owes the creditors of Bill Express "to this day".
