Levitt Robinson takes another tilt at ANZ over Landmark
Class action law firm Levitt Robinson's long-running pursuit of ANZ over its acquisition of the loan portfolio of AWB subsidiary Landmark Operations has taken another turn, with the firm calling for an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission inquiry into the terms of the acquisition.Levitt Robinson principal solicitor Stewart Levitt said in a media release that the ACCC should look at the circumstances of Landmark customers "who were left with no choice of banker after the ANZ takeover."Levitt claims that ANZ did not follow proper procedure when it terminated Landmark facilities and served notice on borrowers. He also claims that Landmark customers were offered "no banking choice but ANZ" - conduct that would be unlawful under the Trade Practices Act (then in force).Levitt Robinson has been trying to get a class action going over the matter for some time but does not appear to have made much progress in that direction.
