Long hours more common in banking jobs
More than one fifth of staff in the finance sector work more than 50 hours a week, the Australian Bureau of Statistics found in a new report on "Characteristics of Employment."Long hours are more than twice as common in the finance sector than in the wider economy, where the incidence is ten per cent.On the other hand, shorter working hours (30 hours a week or less) are almost as common as 50 hours a week or more in the finance sector.Overall, the ABS founds the output of the finance sector required 211,000 hours of work each week.
