Manila hub making collection calls for ANZ
ANZ will shift some of its collections work to its operations hub in Manila, the bank advised on Friday. The bank describes the shift as a pilot. It will cover some mortgage, unsecured and commercial collection calls. One rationale is "the difficulty in hiring and retaining staff in the area (which is an industry-wide issue)", according to the bank. It says there are no job losses associated with the pilot.ANZ said this will be the first time it has used its offshore hubs for voice contact with retail customers in Australia.A handful of specialist debt collection firms have attempted to build part or even all of their business around the use of offshore contact centres, often with poor results. This has seen the return of the debt collection work to contact centres based in Australia.
