MasterCard late for the Android Pay party
ANZ customers who want to use their Android phones to make payments will need an ANZ, Visa or American Express card account. Its MasterCard accounts are not on the system.ANZ said it was working with MasterCard and would bring it to market, but did not say when that would happen.A Cuscal spokesperson said Visa was already enabled on its system but not MasterCard. Cuscal is connecting 25 financial institutions to Android Pay.The Google blog post announcing the Android Pay launch said MasterCard would be on the system "in a few days".MasterCard issued a statement, which said in full: "From a global payment network perspective, MasterCard is live with Android and we are expecting a number of Australian issuers to make their cards available for Android Pay in the coming days."
