ME risk chief leaves
ME Bank confirmed that Nick Vamvakas, its chief risk officer, will leave at the end of February after 21 years with the bank. Â Vamvakas held the position of chief financial officer from ME Bank's inception until his appointment as CRO in November 2012. Â ME said that when Vamvakas took on the role of chief risk officer, "he retained his former remit over the Treasury function, a move that at the time played clearly to Nick's key strengths in a fitting extension of the significant experience he brought to the organisation." Â The bank said his departure "is the direct result of an enforced separation of the treasury and risk components of the current chief risk officer role at the direction of APRA, resulting in significant changes to Nick's ability to apply his extensive expertise across both risk and treasury." James Haviland will be acting CRO pending a recruitment process to find a new person to spearhead the risk area. Â Treasury will now report to Gary Dickson, chief financial officer.
