Mint to supply mPOS in Singapore
Payment processor Mint Payments has signed an agreement with Singapore's Network for Electronic Transfers to provide a mobile point of sale system.NETS is owned by a consortium of Singaporean banks and is the country's most widely used electronic payment system. It is designated as a national payment scheme by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.Under the five-year agreement Mint will supply a NETS-branded mPOS system that will enable merchants to accept NETS payments, as well as credit and debit card payments, on mobile devices using contactless, chip-and-pin and magnetic stripe readers.NETS will act as a transaction switching provider for Mint, which will enable Mint to offer its services to all financial institutions and merchants connected to NETS.Last month Mint announced that it had signed a service agreement with Asian Business Software Solutions of Singapore to distribute Mint's payment solutions with ABSS's MYOB branded software.Mint has had a similar agreement with MYOB in Australia since 2014. Mint reported a loss of A$3.7 million for the six months to December - down from a loss of $4.4 million in the previous corresponding period.Revenue of $1.4 million was 20 per cent higher than the previous corresponding period.The company had a strong increase in transaction volumes, after it completed a number of deals, including licensing agreements with the payment gateway company eWay and the taxi booking and payment service goCatch.
