MMPCU consolidates Shell Employees'
Members of Shell Employees' Credit Union on Friday voted to support a merger with Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union, setting in train what may prove a busy calendar for smaller, mutual ADIs.Shell Employee's Credit Union began trading more than 52 years ago but is one of the smallest ADIs in Australia, with 1680 members and A$50 million in assets.Other mutual ADIs in the merger queue include Country First, which plans a merger with Beyond Bank; Latvian and Dnister credit unions, with an MOU agreed; Select and Encompass credit unions; and Sutherland Shire, which plans to merge with IMB.Quay Credit Union plans to fold into G&C Mutual Bank, while Fire Brigade Employees in Sydney is casting around for a merger candidate.
