More finance sector jobs go offshore

The Finance Sector Union kept up its campaign against finance industry job cuts with the news yesterday that Suncorp has told staff of plans to send 65 jobs to India. Most of the local jobs losses will be in Queensland.A Suncorp spokesperson said the net job loss would be about 40.Describing the trend as an "offshoring epidemic", FSU national secretary Leon Carter said the latest cuts bring the number of jobs Suncorp has sent offshore to 203 in six months.The union estimates that 6000 finance sector jobs have been moved to other countries over the past five years.
