MUFJ in talks with RBS over infrastructure
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is in talks with Royal Bank of Scotland to buy the latter's infrastructure advisory unit in Australia, the UK Financial Times reports. Follow-up reports in other media suggest talks are at an early stage.Japanese media reported earlier this year that MUFJ was studying possible bank and wealth management business buys in Australia, as well as in Asia and the United States. The bank does not hold a banking licence in Australia at present.RBS has A$4.5 billion in assets in Australia, most of them infrastructure loans.
