MYOB releases PayDirect charges

01 April 2014 4:39PM
Businesses using MYOB's new PayDirect mobile payments service will pay as much as 3.2 per cent per transaction.PayDirect, which was announced in February, went into limited release yesterday. The service turns business owners' smartphones into mobile point of sale terminals. The company released details of the offer yesterday. The PayDirect mobile app is compatible with devices running iOS 6 or higher and Android 4.0 or higher. The app is free to download from the Apple app store and Google Play store. However, users must pay $199 for a reader - a device that attaches to the phone and enables the user to wipe or insert a credit card.MYOB is offering three price plans. The base plan has no monthly fee but includes a charge of 3.2 per cent per transaction. The next level includes a monthly fee of $20 and 2.1 per cent per transaction. At the high volume end the monthly charge is $60 and the transaction charge is 1.35 per cent.In its current form PayDirect will only accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards but MYOB said it expected to upgrade the service to include debit cards by the end of the year. The product offers two options: payment only, enabling SMEs to turn their smartphones into mobile point of sale terminals; and an integrated service where the app is linked to the user's debtors and contacts files.
