NAB calls on Mindshare in $40 million shift
National Australia Bank has selected media agency Mindshare for its future media planning and buying, following a competitive pitch worth $40 million. The move away from its outgoing agency Zenith Optimedia, which held the account for nine years, represents one of the largest agency shifts of the year.Following a review in August, NAB put the account out for tender; the account encompasses the entire NAB group, including NAB, MLC and UBank.According to NAB's group executive for people, marketing and communications, Andrew Hagger, Mindshare was selected because of its "emphasis on original thinking, ability to develop content integration opportunities and their unique way of measuring the impact of media investment." A pitch for the lucrative contract was made by Mindshare, ZenithOptimedia, OMD, MBThree and Carat. Mindshare will officially take over on January 1.NAB's current core creative agency is Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, which retains its role following the review.Mindshare's Melbourne managing director, Anathea Ruys, described the bank "as one of Australia's most exciting companies, and an innovator within their sector."
