NAB picks new data centre
National Australia Bank will lease a new data centre at Deer Park in Melbourne from Digital Realty Trust. The bank will be the first customer in Australia for the US-headquartered firm.Digital Realty said the 5000 square metre data centre would be operational by early 2013. It will be a "tier three" facility, the firm said, a term that means maintenance tasks should not degrade availability of technology systems. The firm is one of several specialist investors in data centre infrastructure seeking to woo bank clients to new developments. In April, Springfield Land Corporation publicised the prospect of one of the big four banks becoming the anchor tenant for the Polaris Data Centre at Derrimut in Melbourne. There's been no follow-up news on the identity of this tenant, if indeed the firm has secured one.
