One wealth business for ANZ in NZ
ANZ New Zealand is integrating all its wealth businesses and brands in New Zealand into a new business called ANZ Wealth. The new structure will be headed by John Body, whose role will be expanded to become Managing Director Wealth, from head of Private Banking and Wealth. As part of the change, Helen Troup, the CEO of OnePath, formerly ING New Zealand, will leave the business, ANZ said. Troup joined ING NZ in July 2008. This was during the most critical phase of the business, after two of its funds were frozen in March of that year when it was hit hard by the financial crisis. ANZ Wealth will bring together the funds management and life insurance operations of OnePath, private banking and Wealth Direct, as well as the investment and insurance specialists under the ANZ and National Bank brands. In the year ended September 2010, operating income from ANZ's wealth businesses in New Zealand grew 20 per cent compared with a one per cent fall in retail and a five per cent rise in commercial.
