PayPal launches new pay anyone facility

03 September 2015 4:02PM
PayPal has launched a new 'pay anyone' facility that has been designed to make it easy for consumers and businesses to request payments.PayPal.Me allows users to create a link, with details of the amount owed, and send it via text, email, post or web page. Recipients click the link to log into PayPal (both parties need to be signed up to PayPal) and can make the payment without having to enter any card, account, email or other details.People making payments have the option of changing their payment source. Options include a PayPal balance, bank account, or credit card to make the payment.According to PayPal, a PayPal.Me link can be sent to one person or many. Examples include sharing the cost of a dinner or concert, sharing travel costs, and collecting for the local team or club.PayPal Australia managing director Libby Roy said in a media release that a significant proportion of Australians have difficulty getting paid small amounts they are owed.Roy said PayPal.Me was designed to make the process of getting paid convenient and also to overcome the awkward conversations that are often involved in such transactions.
