Sankaty confirmed as buyer of GE Capital remnants
GE yesterday confirmed it had agreed to sell GE Capital's Commercial Lending and Leasing portfolios in Australia and New Zealand to Sankaty Advisors, the global credit affiliate of Bain Capital.The transaction includes about A$2.4 billion in "ending net investment" GE said. However, terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the GE announcement.Taking into account earlier agreements to sell the consumer and commercial financing businesses, "these transactions total about $12.6 billion of ending net investment," GE said.It said that "when closed [this] will complete the sale of all of GE Capital's businesses in Australia and New Zealand."One measure of the overall value was the statement by GE that "when completed, the transaction will contribute approximately US$0.1 billion of capital to the overall target of approximately US$35 billion of dividends expected to be paid to GE under the disposition plan."
