Seventh person charged with Securency bribes
Australian Federal Police yesterday laid criminal charges against a seventh person in connection with the alleged payment of bribes to secure sales contracts for Securency.Clifford Gerathy, a former Securency sales manager, faces two charges of conspiring to bribe a foreign official and of falsifying documents in connection with the scandal involving currency contracts.Police charged six of Gerathy's colleagues in July.The AFP has also laid criminal charges against the firm itself and against Note Printing Australia.NPA is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of Australia, while NPA owns a 50 per cent stake in Securency, which is for sale.
