Smartcash ATM managed by a bankrupt
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court last Wednesday convicted Christopher Kallonas, of Preston, Victoria, of managing a company while disqualified. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission publicised the conviction yesterday. The court fined Kallonas A$2000.According to ASIC, the court found that Kallonas participated in decisions that affected a substantial part of the business of Smartcash, including decisions in relation to an agreement between Smartcash and Multelink Services Pty Ltd, and agreements with merchants. Smartcash ceased trading in 2004.Kallonas has been an undischarged bankrupt since July 25, 2000, ASIC said.
