Sub-prime loan arrears improve
Arrears on home loans underlying prime residential mortgage-backed securities decreased by nine basis points, to 1.33 per cent, in April 2013, compared with a month earlier, according to Standard & Poor's.Arrears on non-conforming loans fell 1.71 percentage points to 5.65 per cent.S&P said arrears on low-doc loans decreased more than one percentage point to 5.44 per cent.S&P credit analyst Narelle Coneybeare said in a statement that "the decrease in arrears in the subprime and low-doc sectors was greater than we have recorded for some time.""If the trend is sustained, it would indicate some easing for borrowers in these sectors of the market."
