Treasury hand to steer ANZ risk
ANZ has picked as its new chief risk officer an executive with long experience working in the bank's treasury and markets area in New Zealand and Australia. The selection of Nigel Williams as CRO thus breaks with one theme of ANZ's senior executive recruiting over recent years - the need to have served lengthy stretches of time in Asia.Williams has held the post of managing director for ANZ's institutional bank in Australia since 2008. The core of his career was with National Bank of New Zealand, in the 1990s. ANZ bought NBNZ in 2003.Williams replaces Chris Page, who joined ANZ from HSBC in 2008.Page will serve as ANZ's representative on "a number of ANZ's partnership banks in Asia", the bank said in a media release yesterday.
