Unhappy Bankwest borrowers find funding
A "wealthy international family" will be the funder of the planned class action by aggrieved business borrowers of Bankwest against Commonwealth Bank.Geoff Shannon, of the group Unhappy Banking, said the action would be run by Unhappy Customers Pty Ltd.Shannon said yesterday that publicity about the planned case had increased registrations from A$550 million to $1 billion worth of potential claims, a number he said could double again. The class action is the latest opportunity by Bankwest business borrowers to ventilate their grievances and seek compensation. Those who have tried in individual claims in the courts have mostly failed. They also failed to generate much support from last year's Senate's economics committee and the report on the "post-GFC banking sector".
