Westpac names new finance and loans leaders 30 January 2015 4:46PM Bernard Kellerman Westpac has lured Aziz Dean away from Citi in Japan to head up its loans and syndications, corporate and structured finance.In this role, Dean will be responsible for managing Westpac's loans and syndications business across the Asia-Pacific region including Australia.Dean brings to the role over 15 years' experience in corporate finance, and can draw on 27 years experience. He has held senior leadership roles in corporate finance, acquisition finance and syndicated lending across Australia, Japan and Asia.Prior to taking his role with Westpac, Dean was managing director and head of corporate finance for Citibank Japan, where he led the acquisition finance and loan syndications business and developed the real estate and structured finance franchise in Japan.During his tenure at Citibank Australia, Dean held the position of managing director and head of global loan products and leveraged finance, where he was involved in rebuilding the loan syndications franchise for the merger of Citibank and Salomon Smith Barney. Dean will start at Westpac on 9 February, replacing Gavin Chappell who recently moved into a newly created role: head of asset finance and residual value, corporate and structured finance. Both corporate finance executives report to John Chauvel, Westpac's head of corporate and structured finance.
