Westpac to cut teller jobs and close branches
Westpac is taking a second round of measures to trim costs at the retail front line, with plans to cut teller jobs in 51 branches.The bank yesterday confirmed the cuts, disclosed in a notice at the Finance Sector Union website.The FSU said "hundreds of teller jobs" were affected, though a Westpac media adviser said the number was "up to a hundred."Twenty of the branches singled out for a cut in staff are in Queensland and 17 in NSW.Earlier this month Westpac announced plans to shut 20 of 104 branches in South Australia operated under the BankSA brand.Five Westpac branded branches in SA will lose staff under the latest cuts.
