Which bank isn't

CBA chief executive Ralph Norris dismissed suggestions by one reporter (and echoed in a lot of commentary over the years) that the bank would end up reviving the 1980s' tag line of "Which bank?", possibly the most fondly remembered advertising campaign in Australian history.

In reply to the romantics Norris said, "That was more than twenty years ago when we were a bank.

"'Which bank' was a tag line that was developed for the organisation over 20 years ago when the business was effectively a bank," Norris said.

"This organisation is now a group made up of a wide range of financial services businesses … All these things create a much more diverse business than 25 years ago.

"'Which bank' was a very good campaign for its time...  a day-to-day banking business."
