Wipro bid for Bangalore hub
ANZ may be considering an unsolicited offer for its information technology hub in Bangalore. The Hindu reported that Wipro Ltd is in talks to acquire ANZ Operations and Technology and ANZ Support Services India Pvt Ltd.Wipro is India's third largest outsourcer. The firm is one of the providers of outsourced services to Westpac and may have few other Australian bank clients.ANZ has always made a virtue of its ownership of its technology hub in India (first opened in 1989), which helps that bank argue that it remains control of many key work processes and to realise efficiency goals. The bank's 2012 annual report noted that it was "continuing to invest in operations and technology centre in Bangalore where we have 5600 staff compared to around 1800 in 2007."The bank operates two other principal hubs offshore, in Manila and Chengdu.
