World Bank wheel gets RBNZ job
The next governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand will be Graeme Wheeler, the New Zealand Government announced yesterday.Wheeler worked at the World Bank for more than 12 years from 1997. He was the bank's managing director when he stood down in 2010 and established a consultancy.He was appointed as a director of Russian Railways last year, but later opted not to take up the post. He is also a director of Monaco-based conglomerate Thyssen Bornemisza Group, Fairfax NZ reported. The privately held firm operates in banking, ship building and agribusiness according to a profile by Bloomberg Businessweek.Wheeler is the third outsider in a row to be selected as governor of the RBNZ. He will take up his post in September.
