Ashurst has added to its financial regulation practice with the appointment of Narelle Smythe as a partner in Sydney. Smythe was a partner as Clayton Utz from 2000 to 2021. She has overseen large-scale investigations, devised remediation programs, and managed the regulatory issues arising on financial services projects and corporate transactions.  ING has appointed Darren Beatty as its head of real estate finance in Australia. Beatty joins ING from Westpac, where he was a senior director of institutional real estate at Westpac Institutional Bank. He succeeds Wouter Mijnen, who has returned to the ING head office in Amsterdam after five years here.
