Briefs: Former ASIC deputy joins BNK, Westpac opens fraud prevention centre
Former ASIC deputy chair Daniel Crennan has joined the board of BNK Banking Corp. Crennan was also a barrister at the Victorian bar for 16 years. He is currently the principal consultant at boutique consulting form Credit Consulting. Hs role on the BNK board will include responsibility for compliance and governance. He joins the company as it is pushing in a new direction; it sold its mortgage aggregation business Finsure earlier this year and in August outlined a three-year plan to move into SME lending.
Westpac opened a new fraud prevention centre in Sydney yesterday, promising to ramp up its efforts to combat scams. The centre brings together the bank’s 540 financial crime specialists. The centre in Parramatta is part of a significant shift in workforce numbers to western Sydney.
