Briefs: Heartland appoints chief compliance officer, Heritage offers recycling service
Heartland Group’s chief operating officer Michael Drumm is changing roles, moving to the new position of chief compliance and sustainability officer of Heartland Bank. He will run the regulatory affairs and compliance function within the bank. Heartland said in a statement that the appointment reflects the growing size and regulatory complexity of the group’s banking business. Heartland is negotiating the purchase of Challenger Group’s Australian banking subsidiary.
Heritage Bank and its merger partner People’s Choice Credit Union are claiming a first in Australia with a card recycling initiative. Under the program, which is being trialled in Heritage branches initially, members can drop of their expired or cancelled cards to be recycled, rather than throw them in the rubbish. The cards will be sent to TerraCycle, which specialises in recycling hard-to-recycle materials.
