Briefs: Heritage opens Sydney branch, Citi wins custody mandate, Novatti secures acquiring licences
Queensland-based Heritage Bank has opened a branch at Macquarie Centre, a shopping mall in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde. Heritage started establishing a physical presence in Sydney in 2019, when it opened branches in Castle Hill and Parramatta. Heritage chief executive chief Pater Lock said the bank was committed to maintaining a strong branch presence and saw an opportunity to expand in places where other banks were shutting branches. According to APRA, the total number of branches fell 9 per cent to 4491 over the past 12 months.
Citi Australia has won a mandate to provide custody and fund administration services to BetaShares, a provider of exchange traded funds and one of the country’s fastest growing fund managers. Citi will look after $21 billion of BetaShares assets. Citi said it has signed up 24 new custody and fund services client over the past 18 months.
Payments company Novatti has secured acquiring licences with Visa and Mastercard. The company is now a principal member of Mastercard for acquiring services and a principal member with Visa for issuing and acquiring.
