Briefs: Orr talks inflation policy, BNZ customers high and dry on busy day
RBNZ Governor Adrian Orr has been interviewed by Anne-Marie Gulde-Wolf, the Acting Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department (APD) on the New Zealand central bank’s approach to tackling inflation “during uncertain times”. The pre-recorded interview was released on the IMF website early on Tuesday morning.
A major outage at BNZ left its Kiwi customers unable to use internet and mobile banking for several hours on Saturday - one of the busiest shopping days, bookended by public holidays and non-trading days. BNZ notified customers on its website of the issue at 10:19 am, and confirmed it had been resolved at 3:21 pm. It said its branches were closed to customers on Saturday so frontline staff could assist contact centre staff answering phone calls for help from customers.
