Briefs: RBA assistant governor takes Westpac job, CBA partners with climate specialist investment ma
Reserve Bank assistant governor Luci Ellis is leaving the RBA to take up the job of Westpac chief economist. She has been an assistant governor at the RBA since 2016 and before that was the head of the central bank’s financial stability department for eight years. Long-serving Westpac chief economist Bill Evans will take on a new role as senior economic adviser at the bank.
Commonwealth Bank has participated in a Series A capital raising for Wollemi Capital, a global climate specialist investment manager, saying it has formed a strategic alliance with the firm that will “significantly contribute to the development of CBA’s climate, carbon and biodiversity expertise and our ability to play a leadership role in supporting investments in climate-linked businesses”. Wollemi was launched in 2021 by co-founders Tim Bishop (ex-Macquarie Capital) and Paul Hunyor (ex-Boston Consulting Group). CBA and Wollemi plan to collaborate “on a broad range of initiatives”.
