Tilting the balance back to five blokes and five women, Simon Moutter, the former managing director of telco Spark New Zealand, is joining the Commonwealth Bank board as an independent non-executive director.
A New Zealander, Moutter is an engineer who has spent most of his career working in the telco industry, although he also ran Auckland Airport between 2008 and 2012. He will take up his position on September 1.
One point of difference at Commonwealth Bank recently is that it’s had more women than men on the board, a true rarity in Australian business. No longer.
