The government is giving the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission extra funding for the development of the Consumer Data Right.
According to the budget papers, it is also giving the Treasury funding to put together a CDR information and awareness campaign for consumers and businesses.
CDR was launched in July with its first iteration open banking. The big banks went live with product reference data and customer data.
There were only two accredited data recipients at launch, Frollo and Regional Australia Bank, and that is still the case.
On October 1, other ADIs went live with their product reference data. They have until July next year before that start sharing consumer data.
The ACCC is getting A$6.6 million and Treasury is getting $12.6 million.
