National Australia Bank has reshuffled its senior management team after appointing long-serving senior executive Angela Mentis as the new group chief digital, data and analytics officer.
Mentis is expected to return to Australia to take up the new role in October after spending the last three and a half years leading NAB’s Kiwi banking subsidiary, Bank of New Zealand.
Group CEO Ross McEwan wants to accelerate the expansion of the bank’s digital capabilities following the acquisition of 86 400 earlier this year.
“We are positioning NAB, our customers and our colleagues for an increasingly digital and automated world, leveraging the strength of our core banking businesses and the strong technology foundations we have in place,” he said.
“Customer expectations continue to rise as competition drives innovation.
“That means we need to be delivering a digital experience for our personal and business customers that compares with the best experiences they have with any company, not just a bank.”
Mentis will be replaced at the helm of BNZ by Dan Huggins who currently manages the subsidiary’s customer, products and services division.
Huggins, a former CBA executive, joined BNZ in 2020.
