The value of household deposits rose by A$72 billion to a record $1.4 trillion in the September quarter, contributing to record household wealth of $13.9 trillion.
According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics household wealth data, total household wealth rose 4.4 per cent in the quarter and wealth per capita rose 4.3 per cent to $540,179.
The value of non-financial assets (mostly land and dwellings) rose 5 per cent and the value of financial assets (deposits, superannuation balances and shares) rose 2.5 per cent.
Growth in assets outpaced growth in liabilities, which were up 1.8 per cent.
