BOQ yield a lottery

Bank of Queensland will offer a lottery style return to savers through its deposit accounts. The marketing gimmick aims to increase new business.

The bank will give away $30,000 a month under the lottery the Financial Review reported. The interest rate paid on the eligible account will be one per cent.

Banks in some offshore markets have used this style of incentive to lift demand and the concept's been researched, but not attempted, by other banks in Australia.
