Brief: Smartpay launches into taxi payments, Storn Financial settlement questioned by victim 18 December 2014 5:07PM Bernard Kellerman Smartpay Taxis, the newly launched subsidiary of payments provider Smartpay Australia, has signed up its first major customer, Cabit Taxicabs, one of Victoria's largest taxi companies. Smartpay's "Taxipos" payments system includes real-time transaction reporting for individual drivers, cars and fleets. This is the same technology provided by Smartpay in New Zealand, where it claims to be payments technology provider to the majority of taxis there. One Storm Financial victim has accused the Bank of Queensland and ASIC of a lack of transparency over a $17 million settlement for victims caught up in the scandal, and which was approved by the Federal Court on Tuesday, the AFR is reporting. According to ASIC and the BoQ, the sum to be paid to victims represented 45 per cent of their total losses.
