  • La Trobe Financial said it appointed Randal Williams as its senior vice president. He was chief lending officer and the chief investment officer. Chris Andrews will replace Williams as CIO. Andrews was formerly head of funds management.

  • BNP Paribas, with a custody business ranked third largest in Australia, is expanding its Melbourne office to deal with extra business. Patrick Colle, global CEO of BNP Paribas Securities Services, said this week that the bank was setting up for further growth, but was unlikely to be making any further acquisitions in Australia. "Investment in our Australian business has been the most of any country in the world," Colle said. Since about 2003, with the acquisition of Cogent, BNP Paribas has spent about A$150 million in acquisitions and other items for its Australian business, mainly hardware and software.
