Briefs: Moody's withdraws QBE LMI's rating, 'mobile only' bank customer numbers growing fast, Direct 25 August 2015 3:13PM Banking Day staff Briefs, Moody's Investors Service has withdrawn the A2 insurance financial strength rating of QBE Lenders' Mortgage Insurance Ltd, saying its decision was taken "for its own business reasons." The decision may affect securities or rated entities receiving direct credit support from QBE LMI. The number of Australians using only a smartphone or tablet to do their banking has reached an estimated 1.1 million - a three-fold increase in three years according to Roy Morgan Research. Thirty-three per cent of Australians (aged 14 and over) regularly use a smartphone or tablet for some of their banking, while 5.8 per cent are "mobile only" bank customers. In the 14 to 24 age group 13.1 per cent are "mobile only" customers. Start-up lender DirectMoney has formed strategic partnerships with aggregators Loan Market and Finsure, which will distribute DirectMoney's unsecured personal loans.
