Trained as an actuary, Blight-Johnston progressed through the life insurance industry, first with Asteron. She secured her first CEO role in 2007 at Reinsurance Group of America. AMP then hired her in 2013, ending up as Group Executive, Insurance, Superannuation and Risk Management. In 2017 she crossed to Challenger as head of strategy. Blight-Johnston joins Genworth after a brief stint as Partner, Actuarial and Financial Risk with KPMG in Sydney. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has endorsed the decision of the Financial Markets Authority to choose the official cash rate to act as the risk-free benchmark rate in the event of disruption to the main benchmark rates.
