Mortgage return planned by Bouris

Mark Bouris, one of the founders of Wizard Home Loans, is working on a re-entry to the home loan market, The Australian reported.

Bouris told The Australian he had been working on the venture since February. "Only three people know what's going on, and there are some regulatory hoops to jump through, but we are not looking for any handouts or guarantees," he said.

The planned funding sources, market proposition and business model are unknown, though the latter may be tied to the Yellow Brick Road financial planning business established by Bouris.

Bouris and co-investors sold Wizard to GE Capital in 2004. GE sold Wizard to Aussie earlier this year, with the brand replaced by that of Aussie.

Bouris, now chairman of wealth advisers Yellow Brick Road, is planning a comeback to the home-lending market, but with a different business model to Wizard.

"Hopefully it will come together soon; Yellow Brick Road is not there for the fun of it."
