P&N Bank scoops title of 'bank of the year'

The Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards, handed out in Melbourne last night, back up the research firm's findings on customer satisfaction with a series of gongs.

Award choices are based on interviews with 50,000 consumers and 12,000 business decision makers throughout 2014 and derived from Roy Morgan's Consumer Single Source and Business Single Source survey.

Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine said that "by aggregating 12 months' worth of responses to our Consumer Single Source and Business Single Source surveys, Roy Morgan is able to identify and celebrate those businesses — large and small — that have outperformed their competitors in Customer Satisfaction."

In the banking sector the award winners were:

  • Bank of the Year - P&N Bank, the largest locally owned and managed bank in Western Australia, Victoria Teachers took the award in 2013,
  • Building Society of the Year - Greater Building Society, from Newcastle,
  • Business Bank of the Year - Bendigo Bank, which "confirmed its reputation for outstanding service" with a fourth consecutive win,
  • Major Bank of the Year- Commonwealth Bank, winning the award for a second time,
  • Major Business Bank of the Year -Westpac, with its fourth win,
  • Private Health Insurer of the Year - CBHS, originally set up by Commonwealth Bank to look after the health and well being of its staff, but separated to change its name to CBHS Friendly Society,
  •  General Insurer of the Year- Defence Service Homes Insurance, offering both lending and insurance products for current and former Australian Defence Force members,  
  • Industry Superannuation Fund of the Year- ESSSuper, a dedicated superfund for emergency services and Victorian government employees,
  • Retail Superannuation Fund of the Year - NAB's Plum won the award for a second year.
