POLi expands into bill payments

A Centricom related company is launching an online bill paying service using the POLi system called Flycke. The system is due to go live this week.

Flycke chief executive Anthony Johnston says the service will be a competitor to BPay.

"We have our own brand using the POLi system or a white label product."

A biller, say a council, can embed our biller ID and transaction number within their site so a rate payer can go to their site, pay their bill without having to leave their website.

"We are substantially cheaper than BPay because we don't have the interbank transfers and various other charges that BPay has.

"The other layer is, we don't care how many transactions a biller processes. It is a bit difficult if you are a small business to get a BPay account because you have to pay for it. We aren't that fussed if you process one per month. The service is free, there are no binding contracts, just a transaction fee.

"So it's a pretty simple tool that sits outside internet banking with a white label version.

"We are talking to major brands, big and small in all states, they like the low cost, they like keeping the customer on their website and they like the white label version."
