Secured P2P lender ThinCats up and running 03 December 2014 5:00PM Ian Rogers UK-based peer-to-peer business lending platform ThinCats made its Australian debut yesterday.ThinCats Australia "provides an online market for secured business loans" throughout Australia", says the company's website. "Intended to meet the needs of any qualifying investor managing an investment portfolio (including individuals, super fund managers and companies with surplus cash deposits), ThinCats Australia provides direct access to an Australian market sector traditionally occupied by banks," the website says.The chief executive is Sunil Aranha, a former employee of Citibank, Commonwealth Bank and Export Finance Investment Corp.ThinCats launched in 2011 but has made only a modest impact in the UK market. Its website says it advanced £35 million in loans over each of the past two years, and has made only 138 loans so far this year.
