Standard Chartered tapped again

Ian Rogers
Nancy Wong, the new head of Asian strategy for ANZ arrives with a decent CV.

The bank version of Wong's CV shows two top US universities; career progression through the Hong Kong financial regulator, lawyers Sullivan and Cromwell in Los Angeles, Goldman and Sachs back in Hong Kong and then two steps through at Standard Chartered Bank in Taiwan to the slot of chief operating officer.

Wong, in the workforce for 16 years since completing training at Harvard and Cornell, starts work at ANZ on March 2.

So the strategy chief has had a north-east Asian engagement over her career.

ANZ's recent investments are in both China and south-east Asia, where opportunities may continue to open up, as they are also in India and may again in Indonesia.
