Suncorp and Westpac clarify APRA data
Suncorp Metway advised that they plan to correct the home loan data supplied to APRA and published by APRA on Wednesday, and which show a decline of five per cent in the bank's home loan book.
The corrections mean Suncorp's home loan book will have increased by 0.6 per cent over the month of August 2009.
Westpac may also being sending revised data to APRA.
The bank has told The Australian Westpac's own data showed the lender increased its mortgage book by 1.9 per cent.
The Sheet's analysis of the APRA data shows that Westpac's home loan book, including that of St George, was essentially unchanged during August 2009 at $244.5 billion.
The growth story in the loan market remains that of Commonwealth Bank, which lifted its lending by 1.2 per cent over the month, four times the rate of the rest of the market.
